About

Pulsion and Internation Futures Forum

International Futures Forum (IFF) and Pulsion Technology have worked in partnership to translate a systemic model of the school in its wider context into a simple cloud-based software package that allows schools to evaluate themselves and identify factors impacting effectiveness and performance around nine key areas while highlighting the relationships between them.  It is based on an original idea developed by IFF member Pat Heneghan of ForthRoad Ltd to improve safety on oil rigs in the North Sea by taking a wider view of the system beyond individual behaviour.

In just the same way we need to consider the school in its wider environment in order to evaluate performance.  The key areas are:  outcomes, learning and teaching, improvement, leadership, engagement of staff, ethos, strategic relationships, resources and external factors

Ready Made Survey

RSE

RSE is a new approach to school self-evaluation that is rapid, participative and systemic, understanding the school as part of the wider landscape (of policy, community, economy, society, media etc) within which it sits.

Staff, parents, students and any other stakeholder group can be rapidly surveyed around this systemic framework and the results displayed on a simple dashboard with a traffic light display: areas of concern show up as red, areas of strength as green.

Comparison between different stakeholders groups is possible and the tool provides pull-up advice on the dashboard on how to approach improving each area.

The questionnaires are based on those used for many years in school self-evaluation in countries such as Canada, Scotland, New Zealand and Australia. The bank of questions has been extended with fresh questions using on-line resources for school improvement such as The Journey to Excellence.

Make sense of your data

With RSE, you can not only see what key areas are working well and which ones need to improve, you can also identify what factors are positively or negatively affecting each area. You can see all the data behind the map, allowing you to home-in on any particular issues by looking at the question responses.

Why RSE for Schools

  • It’s a Cloud based solution
  • You can gather data quickly and easily on any device
  • It provides an insightful view of school quality and change in real time
  • It’s based on sound practice and experience in education
  • It’s fast and avoids the opportunity costs of extensive school audits
